asked the Minister of Labour what estimate he has made of the number of jobs lost in Scotland as a result of closures and contractions in industrial undertakings since 1st January, 1960, to the latest available date; and if he will make a statement.38W
§ Mr. P. Thomas
I estimate that since 1st January, 1960, about 9,500 workers have been discharged as redundant but there has been a net increase in employment of about 16,000. Both figures relate to manufacturing industry in Scotland.
