asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) if he will state the headway under Full-bridge, Maldon, Essex, or the depth of the bridge immersed in water, at the highest high water in March and September, 1959, respectively; to what extent this information was obtained by observation at the bridge and by calculation, respectively; and who made such calculations;

(3) if he will state the last occasion on which a drainage inspector inspected the River Chelmer, above Fullbridge, Maldon, Essex; and what was the nature of his report, as regards scouring of the bed and erosion of the banks, by the eddies caused by the piers of the bridge.

Mr. Godber

I regret that I have not the information requested and that I have no record of any inspection of the river above and near the bridge by the Ministry's drainage engineers. I would suggest that the hon. and gallant Member may wish to discuss the matters in which he is interested with the Essex River Board.
