Mr. Clark Hutchison

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will set out in tabular form, country by country, a comparative statement of the total staff, including those recruited locally, of each British embassy or legation overseas showing the difference in numbers today and in 1938.

A table giving the number of staff paid by the Foreign Office at each British embassy and legation abroad is below. As I have explained to my hon. Friend it is not practicable to produce figures for 1938.
