HC Deb 24 November 1959 vol 614 c22W
75. Mr. G. Thomas

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will state the number of new industries brought to Wales since 1945 whose headquarters remain in London or the Midlands area; and what number of these have subsequently either been closed down or transferred or drastically reduced in size.

Mr. J. Rodgers

Precise information is not available, but 181 British firms originating in the London and South Eastern and Midland Regions are known to have opened branches in Wales since 1945; 66 are no longer operating there, but these were mainly smaller firms providing relatively little employment.
