HC Deb 10 November 1959 vol 613 c30W
89. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what consultations he has had with the Atomic Energy Authority, with a view to obtaining the power available from the nuclear station at Dounreay, Scotland, for purposes of industrial development in Scotland.

Mr. Maclay

Dounreay is primarily a research and development establishment. I understand that the amount of electricity produced is likely to be small and any surplus will be available to the North of Scotland Hydro-Electric Board.
