HC Deb 10 November 1959 vol 613 cc32-3W
96. Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the President of the Board of Trade what measures are being taken to assure Commonwealth and Colonial producers of their place in the United Kingdom market as United States dollar imports are further liberalised.

Mr. J. Rodgers

Commonwealth and Colonial products will continue to have the benefit of the tariff preferences they enjoy in the United Kingdom. We are keeping in touch with Commonwealth and Colonial Governments and, as my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Colonies stated on 3rd November in answer to a Question by my hon. Friend the Member for Surbiton (Mr. Fisher), we have recently had talks also with the United States Government about the problems of the West Indies citrus industry.
