§ 101. Mr. Masonasked the Secretary of State for Air what immediate steps he intends taking to better the conditions of Royal Air Force personnel serving in Aden and El-Adem.
Mr. WardWe have extensive building programmes for both stations. At Aden, several barrack blocks have recently been completed and much further work on domestic facilities is in progress. At El-Adem, work is about to begin on a large contract including the provision of living accommodation, messes and a swimming pool.
§ 104. Mr. Wallasked the Secretary of State for Air what improvements in accommodation and amenities have been made to the Royal Air Force Station at El-Adem during the past three years.
Mr. WardMessing standards have been raised; the range of recreational activities available has been extended; and a number of minor improvements have been made to existing buildings. Work on a large contract for additional accommodation will begin shortly.
