HC Deb 04 November 1959 vol 612 cc57-8W
101. Mr. Mason

asked the Secretary of State for Air what immediate steps he intends taking to better the conditions of Royal Air Force personnel serving in Aden and El-Adem.

Mr. Ward

We have extensive building programmes for both stations. At Aden, several barrack blocks have recently been completed and much further work on domestic facilities is in progress. At El-Adem, work is about to begin on a large contract including the provision of living accommodation, messes and a swimming pool.

104. Mr. Wall

asked the Secretary of State for Air what improvements in accommodation and amenities have been made to the Royal Air Force Station at El-Adem during the past three years.

Mr. Ward

Messing standards have been raised; the range of recreational activities available has been extended; and a number of minor improvements have been made to existing buildings. Work on a large contract for additional accommodation will begin shortly.
