HC Deb 14 May 1959 vol 605 cc162-3W
53. Mr. Prentice

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how many missions organised under the technical assistance programme of the International Labour Organisation have operated in Colonial and Trust Territories; and how many personnel have been involved.

Mr. J. Amery

Since 1950, there have been 35 missions involving 41 people.

Mr. Prentice

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what steps are taken in Colonial and Trust Territories to circulate the manuals issued by the International Labour Organisation as part of its workers' education programme.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

Colonial Governments are aware of these publications, which are available on payment to the International Labour Organisation, and a number subscribed for them. The actual use made of them is a matter for the individual Governments and for employers' and workers' organisations in the territories.
