§ 41. Mr. F. M. Bennettasked the Minister of Labour when the next monthly unemployment figures for the United Kingdom will be published.
Mr. lain MacleodI believe the arrangements I made last month for publishing the unemployment figures separately without waiting until the employment figures became available were found to be acceptable. I propose to make this the normal practice in future and to publish the provisional unemployment figures separately as soon as they have been collated which will usually be about fifteen days after the count. The May count of registered unemployed is today and allowing for the Whitsun holiday I hope to publish the provisional totals on 27th May.
