§ Sir A. Bossomasked the Minister of Labour if he will publish in tile OFFICIAL REPORT the approximate average weekly, daily or hourly rate of earning for those who lived in Greater London, Brighton, Leeds, Sheffield and Birmingham, respectively, in 1800, 1900, 1925, 1950 and 1958.
Mr. Lain MacleodInquiries into average earnings were not made in 1800, 1900 or 1925. Although inquiries in respect of manual workers were held in 1924, 1950 and 1958 the information was tabulated on an industry basis in order to obtain details for the United Kingdom as a whole and at no stage were figures calculated for particular towns or cities.
