HC Deb 26 March 1959 vol 602 c152W
22. Mr. E. L. Mallalieu

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies, in view of recent discussions in the United Nations Trusteeship Committee, what proposals have been made by the United Kingdom delegate in order to ensure that the peoples of the British Cameroons may be able freely to express their wishes on the future status of the northern and southern sections, respectively.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

The United Kingdom delegate supported the resolution adopted by the General Assembly under which plebiscites supervised by the United Nations are to be held in both the Northern and Southern Cameroons.
