§ Mr. Malcolm MacMillanasked the President of the Board of Trade what steps he has taken in recent months with the specific purpose of attracting and assisting the establishment of industry in the Isle of South Uist; and with what result in terms of development and employment.
§ Mr. J. RodgersSouth Uist is included on the list of places to which the Distribution of Industry (Industrial Finance) Act, 1958, applies. No firm and eligible applications for assistance under the Act168W have yet been received. So far my officials have not been able to persuade a suitable firm to set up in this area, but they will continue their efforts.
