asked the Minister of Labour how many factory inspectors attached to the Divisions of the Factory Department are assigned to spend most of their time in the inspection of building sites and works of engineering construction; and, of these, how many have professional qualifications in building construction or in civil engineering.

Mr. Iain Macleod

Seven Inspectors spend most of their time on this work. None of them has professional qualifications in building construction or civil engineering.

80. Dr. Stross

asked the Minister of Labour whether the Departmental committee appointed by him in March, 1957, to inquire into the duties, organisation and staffing of the Medical Branch of the Factory Inspectorate has yet reported; and when it is proposed that the report shall be published.

Mr. Iain Macleod

The Committee has reported. I propose to publish at an early date the results of the Committee's survey and the decisions I have reached on the points raised.
