Mr. Stonehouse

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies the number of European farmers in the Kenya Highlands; and what degree of training is required before they are permitted to occupy farming land

pursuant to Mr. J. Amery's reply [OFFICIAL REPORT 12th February 1959; Vol. 599 c. 1326], supplied the following additional information:

There are 3,683 registered farmers in the Highlands, almost all of whom are Europeans.
