asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation what representations have been made to him for the establishment of a civil airport in the south-east Durham area; and if he will, through his Department, have an inquiry made as to a suitable site for a civil airport for this area.

Since two local bodies made such a suggestion at the end of 1957, we have received no further representations. I understand that the suggestion did not receive much local support.
