§ 71. Mr. Awberyasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the total amount paid out by the Treasury in subsidies to various industries annually for the past five years; and to what industries they were paid.
Mr. AmoryFor the years 1953 to 1957 inclusive, subsidies to industry (other than agriculture and food), as set out in the National Income Blue Book for 1958, Table 50, to which I would refer the hon. Member for further details, were running at about £8 million a year.
