HC Deb 29 July 1959 vol 610 c78W
46. Mr. Stonehouse

asked the Prime Minister if he will re-examine the structure of the Colonial Office and Commonwealth Relations Office with a view to effecting better co-ordination of these Departments and improving the discharge of Her Majesty's Government's responsibilities towards British territories in Africa.

Mr. R. A. Butler

I have been asked to reply.

My right hon. Friend the Prime Minister gave the House an assurance when he replied to the hon. Member for Pembroke (Mr. Donnelly) on 9th July that he would give consideration to the question of reorganising the Departments. There is at present the fullest consultation and collaboration between the Colonial Office and the Commonwealth Relations Office for the efficient discharge of those responsibilities which concern them.
