§ 121. Lieut.-Colonel Bromley-Davenportasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he is aware of the anxiety of bacon producers that, as a result of increased imports of Danish bacon and a reduction in bacon prices, the cost of subsidies to pig producers is likely to become increasingly expensive and may accordingly be reduced; and whether he will give an assurance that the guaranteed prices will not be reduced over the next five or ten years.
§ Mr. GodberI would refer my hon. and gallant Friend to the assurances given by my right hon. Friend in the debate on Tuesday, 21st July, and to the assurances given by my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer in his statement in the House on Thursday 9th July. These statements should have removed any anxiety that may have been felt by pig producers.
