HL Deb 21 July 1959 vol 218 cc373-4WA
LORD MANCROFT

asked Her Majesty's Government whether they realise that the failure to include garages in the block of flats to be erected at the corner of Wyndham Place and Bryanston Square, W.1, will aggravate the already intolerable parking congestion in the area; and whether it should not be obligatory that all large new buildings erected in congested areas should be provided with their own garage accommodation.

THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR WELSH AFFAIRS (LORD BRECON)

It is the general practice of the London County Council, as local planning authority, to require the provision of space for parking cars within the curtilage of new buildings. In this particular case, however, I understand that it was found that the limitations of the site precluded the inclusion of parking space within the curtilage.

House adjourned at seven o'clock.
