Silvermanasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the United Kingdom will now seek to obtain from the International Court an advisory opinion as to the legality of nuclear warfare, having regard to the extent of the contemplated destruction of the lives and property of non-combatant populations and to the relevant Geneva Conventions and the established rules of civilised war.
