§ 91. Mr. H. Hyndasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what representation Africans have in the Legislative Council and town councils of Nyasaland; and what proposals there are for giving them more seats in those bodies.
§ Mr. Lennox-BoydThere are five African Members of the Legislative Council and one African on each of the town Councils of Salima and Zomba; the separate high density area of Soche near Blantyre has two Africans on the local authority. The Governor is at present considering further steps in constitutional development, and I am still consulting with him about them. As regards the town councils, proposals to increase African representation on the Salima and Zomba town councils are under consideration.
