§ Mr. Farey-Jonesasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will propose to the Soviet Government a system of collaboration on all space exploration projects, whereby the British, United States, and Soviet Governments would be enabled to pool the resources which they are allocating for this purpose.
§ Mr. R. AllanLast December the United Nations General Assembly set up anad hoc Committee to study the question of international co-operation in the peaceful uses of outer space under United Nations auspices. The Committee is composed of eighteen member States, including the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and the Soviet Union, and one of the proposals it is under instructions to consider is the coordination of national research programmes.
This would, I think, have met the suggestion in the hon. Member's Question; but so far the Soviet, Polish and Czechoslovak Delegates have refused to participate in the work of this Committee. I hope that they may reconsider their decision.
