HC Deb 17 February 1959 vol 600 cc28-9W
80. Sir E. Errington

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury what proportion of the widows and relatives who are in receipt of pensions have agreed to the change of date for payment to the 10th of each month in accordance with his request in Circular M320 C(M).

Mr. Simon

In order to make the best use of staff and machines in the Paymaster-General's Office, the payment dates for certain classes of pension are being staggered; but any pensioner who objects to the new arrangements is free to keep the existing payment dates. Fewer than 4 per cent. of the widows and dependent relatives invited to co-operate in this change have so far indicated that they prefer to keep the existing dates for payment.
