§ 70. Mr. Warbeyasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what action he has taken in response to the letter addressed to him on 11th April, 1957, by the International Supervisory Commission for Vietnam regarding the refusal of the South Vietnam Government to co-operate with the Commission in the implementation of Article 14 (c) of the Geneva Agreement.
§ Mr. R. AllanMy right hon. and learned Friend had consultations with the Soviet Government on this subject in 1957 but they were unable to agree on any action to be taken.
§ 72. Mr. Mikardoasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if, in view of the deadlock between North and South Vietnam in the implementation of the 1954 Geneva Agreement, he will take the initiative in proposing a meeting of the powers who met at Geneva in 1954 to review the progress made so far in Vietnam.
§ Mr. R. AllanAs I said in reply to the hon. Member for Leek (Mr. Harold Davies) and the hon. Member for Reading (Mr. Mikardo) on 4th February, there does not appear at present to be any initiative that can usefully be taken by Her Majesty's Government in regard to the unification of Vietnam.
