25. Mr. D. Howell

asked the Minister of Health how many consultants and specialists were employed in the Health Service upon a full-time basis on the latest convenient date and on 31st March, 1950, and 31st March, 1955.

Mr. Walker-Smith

The available information is that there were about 2,200 whole-time consultants and senior hospital medical and dental officers at the end of 1950; 3,166 at 30th June, 1955, and 3,192 at 30th September, 1957.
