§ 96. Mr. Jannerasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation why he has not approved the route for the Leicestershire portions of the London-Yorkshire motorway submitted to him by the Leicestershire County Council soon after it had been agreed to at a special meeting of that Council on 30th September, 1958; and why he has not yet communicated his views about its plan to that Council.
§ Mr. WatkinsonThe line proposed by the Leicestershire County Council poses a number of traffic and engineering problems, and an assessment of its cost must take account of any consequential link roads or other by-passes which may be necessary. Consultations on these points have taken place at official level between my Department, the County Council and the consulting engineers, who have just agreed a report with the County Surveyor which is now being considered.
