HC Deb 09 February 1959 vol 599 c150W
77. Mr. de Freitas

asked the Minister of Defence the amount of the total expenditure on defence since October, 1951.

Mr. Sandys

The total net expenditure on defence since April, 1951, is about £11,150 million. It is not possible to attribute expenditure in 1951–52 before and after October. The total includes the provisional out-turn for 1957–58 and the revised Estimates figure for 1958–59, which takes account of a contribution of £12 million from the Federal German Government towards the local costs of British forces in Germany.
