asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what decision he has now come to in the case of the stowaway from South Africa, details of which have been sent to him by the hon. Member for Bristol, Central, at present detained pending a decision as to whether he shall be allowed to remain in the United Kingdom.

As soon as my right hon. Friend was satisfied that the man in question was a British subject, instructions were given for his release on completion of the sentence passed on him under the Merchant Shipping Act for stowing away.
