asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the total amount paid to the most recent convenient date in grants under the Distribution of Industry (Financial Provisions) Act, 1958, in Scotland; the total amount made available by way of loan; and the number of new jobs created as a direct result.

Up to 16th December grants to a total of£8,250 and loans to a total of£1,834,145 had been offered under the Distribution of Industry (Industrial Finance) Act, 1958, to undertaking in Scotland.

It is estimated that this assistance will help to create 2,323 new jobs.
