§ 142. Mr. Swinglerasked the Civil Lord of the Admiralty on what date he received a letter from the hon. Member for Newcastle-under-Lyme showing that he was incorrectly advised about the 190W number of workers made redundant at Clayton motor transport depot and still unemployed; and if he will now publish the correct figure and consult the Minister of Labour about propects of alternative employment for these men in his Department.
§ Mr. C. Ian Orr-EwingI received the hon. Member's letter on 1st December and was on the point of replying when he put this Question down for answer in the House. The number of these men now registered as unemployed is being given by my right hon. Friend the Minister of Labour; I greatly regret that the figure given in my previous answer was inaccurate. The hon. Member can be assured that efforts are continuing to find suitable vacancies for all these men.
