§ 93. Sir A. V. Harvey
asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what progress has been made in reaching a settlement regarding compensation for the burning and looting of the British Embassy in Baghdad.
§ Mr. R. Allan
Since my right hon. Friend answered a similar Question from my hon. and gallant Friend in June, our Ambassador has pursued this matter on numerous occasions in Baghdad. My right hon. and learned Friend himself raised the matter with the Iraqi Foreign Minister in New York in September. I am happy to say that we now seem to be very much closer to a settlement.
