HC Deb 03 December 1959 vol 614 cc149-50W
75. Mr. Stonehouse

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether a decision has now been reached on the recommendation of the Committee on Emergency Detention Camps in Kenya of August, 1959, that a scientific study of present conditions in the Kikuyu districts should be made.

Mr. J. Amery

There have been several sociological studies in recent years on various aspects of Kikuyu life, details of which I will supply the hon. Member if he so wishes, and the Kenya Government consider that sufficient information exists on the problems of the Kikuyu to enable them to be solved, provided the necessary money can be found.
