§ Mr. Tilneyasked the Minister of State for Commonwealth Relations whether he will state in table form for each £100 of basic pension from £100 per annum to 137W £1,200 per annum how each Government of former Dependent Territories and the South African High Commission Territories has increased the pension to ex-civil servants; and how these increases compare with those given by the Pensions Increase Act, 1959, to civil servants of the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. AlportPensions increases granted by Governments of independent Commonwealth countries are a matter for those Governments. I append a tabular statement, in the form requested, in respect of the High Commission Territories in South Africa, showing how increases granted there compare with those given to civil servants of the United Kingdom.
The High Commissioner for Basutoland, the Bechuanaland Protectorate and Swaziland has been asked to consider sympathetically whether any improvements should be made in the pensions increases in those Territories, in the light of the increases in the United Kingdom authorised by the Pensions (Increase) Act, 1959.
