HC Deb 27 April 1959 vol 604 cc76-7W
40. Mr. Lewis

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware of the annoyance caused to medical officers of health due to the letter sent out by his Department on 16th February, and the subsequent one of April, dealing with inoculations of people against poliomyelitis; whether he will publish these letters in HANSARD; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Walker-Smith

It has been the practice to inform the local health authorities from time to time of factors affecting the progress of the polio vaccination programme and to make suggestions intended to be helpful. These communications are generally welcomed. I do not consider it necessary to publish them.
