HC Deb 21 April 1959 vol 604 cc24-5W
48. Mr. Moss

asked the Prime Minister whether he will make a statement in simple terms on the level of radiation in the United Kingdom, indicating the minimum and maximum of local variation; and if, in the light of his study of the latest information, he will press for agreement to end tests of nuclear devices which add to the risk inherent in total background radiation and the peaceful uses of atomic energy, and which decrease the margin of safety which may now exist.

53. Mr. Roy Mason

asked the Prime Minister what recent study the Medical Research Council have made regarding the effects of the increased fall-out since the United States high level tests took place; and if he is now able to make a statement on the recent increased fallout of radioactivity.

The Prime Minister

I hope to be able, in the near future, to make a statement incorporating the latest information on these matters.
