Mr. Awberyasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation what developments have taken place in the carriage of oil cargoes in flexible vessels; and what steps are being taken at the same time to provide the necessary safety precautions for men when using gas for inflating and deflating these vessels.
§ Mr. WatkinsonI understand that one or two prototype vessels of the type that has for some months been under trial in Southampton Water are now undertaking short commercial voyages from an oil refinery in that area. Further study is being given to the safety precautions which are necessary.
