HC Deb 26 November 1958 vol 596 cc41-2W
Mr. Prentice

asked the Minister of Labour if he will give the latest available figure of registered unemployed in the county borough of East Ham, the percentage of unemployment which this represents, and similar figures for twelve months ago.

Mr. Iain Macleod

On 13th October, 681 persons were registered as unemployed at East Ham Employment Exchange and Youth Employment Office which cover the main part of the county borough of East Ham. On 14th October, 1957, the number was 341. It is not possible to quote a percentage for a particular area within Greater London.

Houghton-le-Spring employment exchanges at the latest convenient date, and that of twelve months previous.

Mr. Iain Macleod

The following table gives the information. A separate percentage rate of unemployment cannot be given for the Spennymoor Employment Exchange area.
