§ Mr. du Cannasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will publish in tabular form, for each of the last 10 years, the total amount raised for national savings, the net savings after allowing for encashments, withdrawals, &c., and the amount spent by the National Savings Movement upon advertisement, with the percentage such expenditure represents of the total amount raised and of the net savings, respectively.

Exchequer contribution to the publicity costs of the Ulster Savings Committee.
Publicity by the Trustee Savings Banks, whilst it is part of National Savings Movement publicity, is carried on by each of the individual banks throughout the 179W country and its costs are not a direct charge on the Exchequer. It is therefore excluded from the table above.
