§ 104. Mr. Hastingsasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if his attention has been called to the recent researches by Professor G. C. Drew, and others, particulars of which have been sent to him by the hon. Member for Barking, which indicate that, after drinking one to one-and-a-half pints of beer, driving skill may be definitely diminished; and what action he proposes to take to make these facts known to the driving public or in other ways increase the safety of our roads.
§ Mr. WatkinsonThe answer to the first part of the Question is "Yes." As regards the second, the Highway Code reminds road users that even quite small amounts of alcohol make them less safe on the roads. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents has also taken steps over the past few years to emphasise to the public the dangers of drink to road users.
