§ 81. Mr. Awberyasked the Minister of Labour the total number of ship-repair workers in this country; how many are casually employed; and what is the percentage of time they have worked during the last monthly period for which there are records.
§ Mr. Iain MacleodSeparate figures for ship repairing are not available. At the end of September, the estimated number of employees in employment in the shipbuilding and ship-repairing industry in Great Britain was 198,900. At about the same date there were 13,000 persons unemployed whose last employment was in that industry, of whom 300 were "temporarily stopped". Information is not available about the numbers casually employed in the industry or the percentage of time they have worked.
