HC Deb 12 November 1958 vol 595 cc47-8W
93. Mr. Chetwynd

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will make a statement on the recent explosion on Fylingdales Moor; and whether he will hold a public inquiry.

Mr. Soames

The explosion occurred on 31st October while a company of the Royal Pioneer Corps was helping to search an old training area for unexploded bombs and shells. Two soldiers were killed and nine injured. The report of a board of inquiry reached the War Office today and I have not had an opportunity to study it. The Coroner will hold an inquest in accordance with the usual practice.
