§ 59. Mr. K. Robinsonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what progress he has made in his consideration of the law relating to attempted suicide; and what proposals he has for introducing amending legislation during this Session.
§ Mr. R. A. ButlerBefore a change in the law is proposed, it is necessary to ensure that persons who attempt suicide and need care but cannot be given it, or will not accept it, unless they are brought before the courts, can be looked after by other means. I am still studying this difficult problem, and I am sorry that I 95W cannot at this stage give an undertaking as to when it will be possible to introduce legislation.
