§ Mr. Rankinasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how many acres of land will require to be returned in carrying out Plan II of the Kai Tak development scheme in Kowloon; how many villagers will be evicted from the Ngau Chi Wan area; at what price per square foot the land will be sold to the housing authority for putting up its housing estates; and what rate of compensation will be paid to those who lose their land.
§ Mr. ProfumoI assume that the hon. Member refers to the Clearwater Bay Road Scheme to make a housing estate for 30,000 people. The total area is 27 acres of Crown land of which 8 acres had been leased out by the Government for agricultural purposes. The owners of resumed agricultural land will be offered compensation at $1 a square foot or28W building land on a value for value basis. About 1,500 people who have squatted on the land will have to move. They will be offered accommodation elsewhere. The site when cleared will be sold to the housing authority at $8 a square foot.
