BrookeIt is estimated that in the period from 30th June, 1929, to 30th June, 1938, the population of Wales and Monmouthshire decreased by some 210,000; allowing for a natural increase of some 70,000, the net loss due to migration was therefore of the order of 87W 280,000 persons. In the period from 30th June, 1948, to 30th June, 1957, the population increased by some 40,000; allowing for a natural increase of about 80,000, the net loss by migration was therefore of the order of 40,000 persons.
