§ 86. Mr. Gowerasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs if he will make a full statement about the progress of slum clearance in Wales, giving particulars of the number of slum or condemned houses already demolished, the number demolished in the past year, and his estimate of the number to be demolished in the next twelve months.
§ Mr. H. Brooke8,075 houses were demolished or closed in Wales up to the end of 1957 under the local authority slum clearance programme. The number for 1957 was 1,363. I cannot give a firm estimate for 1958, but the number will exceed that for 1957.
