§ 29. Mr. A. Hendersonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is now in a position to make a statement on the discussions in the United Nations with regard to the proposal for the stationing of United Nations observers on the Aden-Yemen borders.
§ Mr. Ormsby-GoreThere have been no discussions in the United Nations on the stationing of observers. My right hon. and learned Friend believes that in existing circumstances the best solution to the border problem would be joint Anglo-Yemeni commissions to investigate and settle disputes and to carry out the provisions of the 1951 Exchange of Notes regarding frontier demarcation, but he does not rule out any reasonable proposal which would help to maintain peace on the border. He does not think it 19W would help towards a solution if we called for United Nations action now.
