§ 77 and 78. Mr. Grimondasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) in how many cases of sexual assault on children and young persons in the past year the offender has been previously convicted;
(2) how many cases of assault on children and young persons have been reported in each of the last three years.
§ Mr. R. A. ButlerI regret that except where the age of the victim is an element in the definition of the offence the statistics in my possession do not enable me to distinguish sexual offences against children and young persons from similar offences against adults. I am circulating tables showing such information as is available.
