asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government how many local authorities in England and Wales have sold council houses since the war; and what is the number of houses so sold up to the latest convenient date.

Up to the 31st December, 1957, 444 local authorities in England and Wales had sold 9,703 council houses. In addition, seven new town development corporations had sold 61 houses.
