§ Mr. Walker-SmithInvestigations conducted by the Medical Research Council on groups of persons especially exposed to fumes from diesel engines have demontrated no immediate or long-term effects on health. Sampling of the atmosphere shows that diesel fumes contribute little to the total atmospheric pollution. These studies are continuing, together 35W with research on the nature of the constituents of diesel exhaust fumes under different running conditions, both experimentally and in the field.
