HC Deb 04 February 1958 vol 581 c157W
96. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what improvements have taken place in respect of Nigerians working in Fernando Po, as the result of consultations between the Nigerian Government and the Spanish authorities.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

The consultations resulted in the revised Labour Agreement of October, 1957, which provides improvements in the way of substantial wage increases, elimination of penal sanctions for breaches of contract, compensation for incapacity arising out of employment and the posting of a Nigerian Labour Officer to Fernando Po to assist in looking after the general well being of the workers.
